Mamas in Eating Disorder Recovery Support Group

During Pregnancy and Postpartum

“Connection is energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard and valued – when they can give and receive without judgment.” – Brene Brown, PhD, LMSW

Who: Any mamas in recovery from an eating disorder who are pregnant or within 3 years of a delivery (we’re flexible if you feel you’re outside of that range and a good fit for the group). Contact Lindsay if you have any questions about participating via the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Group format:

Introductions: Lindsay will briefly introduce herself and review the group guidelines.

Check In: Each member will be invited to introduce themselves and will have the option to share one thing that’s going well and one challenge. Each group member also has the option to provide a rating on a scale of 1-5 – 5 meaning you’re experiencing a strong need to share or process an experience with food, body, etc… We can have up to 12 members attend a group. When we’re at max capacity there might not be time for everyone to share individually but there will be plenty of opportunities to interact and learn.

Sharing/Open Forum: We will then move into our sharing time where we’ll share in order of need. Each person will have time to share and receive support.

Education: 10-15 minutes will be reserved for focused education on a topic pertinent to the group. Some examples would be: impact of motherhood on the recovery experience, restrict/overeat cycle, exploring urges to restrict intake or pursue weight loss, honoring cravings and appetite changes in pregnancy and postpartum, pregnancy weight gain, postpartum healing, etc…

Self-Care Intentions/Planning: Each group member will have the opportunity to share 1-2 intentions for self-care and how they plan to include them in their life.

Please note: You may choose how little or how much to participate in the group. We do ask that during introductions that your video is turned on and that you introduce us by sharing your first name. This allows for everyone to see who is participating. Once introductions have passed, you’re welcome to turn off your video to just listen. Lindsay may mute the entire group (and teach you how to unmute yourself) if there are issues with feedback noise.

When:

  • Tuesday, September 12th at 1pm PST
  • Tuesday, October 10th at 1pm PST
  • Tuesday, November 14th at 1pm PST
  • Tuesday, December 12th at 1pm PST

Cost: $25 per group

We’re currently running a 4 month trial for this service. If we have enough interest we will make this a permanent service in April 2018!

Our monthly online group is here to help you connect with other moms, receive and provide support and talk about experiences with ED recovery during pregnancy and postpartum. You can expect thoughtful discussion, sharing of experiences, and education from the host as necessary. Our group does not offer nutrition counseling, psychotherapy, medical nutrition therapy or replace working with a dietitian, mental health professional or medical provider. Groups are led by Lindsay Stenovec, an experienced expert in eating disorders, intuitive eating, body image, and motherhood. We hope you’ll join us!
